Windy Disaster at The Poulsen's

A few weeks ago we had a terrific wind storm. The winds were anywhere from 50 to 70 miles an hour. I was at the kids ballgame and when coming home I could hardly see a few feet in front of me. When I crossed over the road on the corner I thought to myself-Where is all of my tree in the yard? I knew some of it was gone and when I pulled into the yard, sure enough, the tree had split and crashed.
John, David and Heather were standing on the deck when it crashed to the ground and smashed the sheds to the east of it. It reached clear to the potato pit. It was pretty freaky! I was so sad. We had our insurance adjuster come out a few days later and they said we would have to take the whole tree down because the rest of it was hanging over the house. I was really sad then. That tree has been in the yard for over 100 years. It was the best shade tree ever.
s
Well, we took it down and then the boys came and helped clean. They worked on the shed and the girls and grandkids raked the yard and filled in the big holes in the yard. I fixed a big supper and they really helped a lot. Then, last night, David came and tore out the whole deck. It took him 3 hours. Our place looks like a war zone, but it is getting better. All the kids have helped so much and John has worked all day in cleaning up around outside. It has been cold and windy, but he has been a real trooper. We will have to put in a new deck and somehow cover up the big stump. We are not rebuilding the shed, but will be putting in a new fence. In a few weeks I hope it will look great. My yard looks kind of lonely without the tree and I'm sure it will be a lot warmer when summer actually gets here. But, for now, I'm just glad it didn't hurt one of the kids or grandkids. We can count our blessings for that.

We Have A New Baby!

Trever and Jaimie had their baby Friday May 14th. It was a girl. I don't have pictures to put on yet and I'm sure Jaimie will be writing about it soon. I will let her tell all the details. This is our 12th grandchild. It is so fun. I will be sharing some other things soon. I need to catch up with what has been happening at the Poulsen house. See ya later.

3 Cute Little Dancers

Last night was the Dance Recital for Malorie, Kallie and Jacie. They were the cutest dancers there. Of course, Gandma isn't prejudice or anything. No, they all did very well and looked so cute. They each did 2 dances with cute costumes and it was really fun to watch. The whole program was nice to watch. It ran very smoothly and was a little over 2 hours long. Afterwards we went to Dairy Queen for a treat. It was a fun night and fun to get out and do something.

Happy Spring and fun with Family

Yesterday, I had all of my kids and grandkids at my house for the day. Its been awhile since we have had them all there. It was fun. We had a ham dinner and just visited and hung out for the day. Heather and Koby had come up on Saturday after going to Jackson overnight. It was her birthday over the weekend and they went to play. The weather was fairly decent and so the kids and David, Trever, and Christopher even got to go out and play some football. Everyone ate and pieced all afternoon and then I had made fresh strawberry and coconut creme pies. They cleaned those all up before heading home last night. It was a fun day and I enjoy feeding my family and that they can spend the day with us. Here's to many more fun, spring, days!!!!

It' s been awhile

I decided I needed to post something since it has been awhile. Last week-end John and I went down to Heather and Koby's just overnight. We got up on Monday and headed over to Bear Lake where we attended his Aunt Maxines funeral. It was nice and he got to see a lot of cousins that he hasn't seen in a very long time. He only has 1 aunt and 2 uncles left on that side of the family so it was nice to see them too. The rest of the week I have babysat and worked. Today I am getting ready to go to Tiffany's little open house that she is having for all the aunts, uncles, and cousins to come and see all the changes that they have made to Grandmas house. They are awesome and you wouldn't even know the place. It is totally amazing how different it all looks. Grandma and Grandpa would be so pleased. Everyone have a great week and keep praying for Spring. I know it is out there somewhere.

Spring is Coming

I just thought I would let you all know that I think spring is just around the corner. The birds have been singing and the snow is melting at my house. You can see a lot of grass which is okay, but I don't know if I am ready for it or not. I love springtime but, I dislike all the work that it brings. I think I am getting lazier as I get older. Of course, I don't get around as good as I used to either. I just about talked myself out of growing a garden but then the leaders tell us to and to store food. So, I probably will grow a garden. I have been trying to use up s lot of my canning so I can do new stuff. I try to at least open 1 bottle a day. Somedays I do better and open up 2 or 3. Anyway, its always nice to use up the old and get some new in the bottles. I hope everyone is feeling better now and that you are all ready for Spring. It's coming whether we are ready or not! Here's to sunshine and green grass!!!

Butterfly Fly Away

Saturday night, John and I and some others from the family went to the Upper Valley Idol program. We had a famous singer that we knew and she was performing. It was our sweet little Malorie. She did so good. She sang Butterfly Fly Away and it was super. Her Grandpa said she was the only one that was actually on key. It was a cute bunch of kids that tried out and Malorie got third. She was just beaming and so was the rest of us. We are very proud of you Malorie and hope you keep singing with that sweet little voice. Love ya!
